The Only 3 Ways To Grow Your Business
A deep dive into growth and scale.
Happy Sunday MoeMentum Fam!
Welcome back to another week of activities. As I wrap up my last few days In Ibiza and get ready to head home I couldn’t be more excited to start working long days again in front of my 40-inch monitor back home.
Black Friday is a few months away and the preparation starts now.
Today, I’ve got a juicy topic for you. Earlier this week I was reviewing some PnLs and I fell into a thought process of trying to figure out the easiest way to take my business to the next level.
My conclusion was, there are only 3 ways:
Add More Resources
Produce More Resources
Maximize Volume and Efficiency
Today, I’ll be going over point #1.
But in these next few days, I’m gonna hit on all 3.
Let’s get into it.
How To Grow Your Business — Lever 1
What do I mean by “Add more resources”?
Well, growing comes in 3 different forms:
Increasing Time (Being in the market for a long time)
Increasing Money (Raising capital or infusing money to scale quicker)
Increasing People (Adding more human capital to increase production)
So I asked myself at the current stage Im at what’s the lowest-hanging fruit that I can do to grow business?
Looking at my PnL the opportunity was loud and clear.
I need more people.
Because If I can hire more people…
Theoretically, I can move at twice the speed, get more initiatives done and increase the total output in specific areas of my business.
But let’s go deeper than that…
Increasing Human Resources
Essentially its expanding the team to boost productivity and bring in new ideas.
Hiring more people can be a complete game-changer for your business, but it's not just about the number of people.
It's about hiring the right people and the right roles.
Why Increasing People Matters:
Boosts Productivity: More hands on deck means tasks get done faster.
Better Ideas: A variety of talented perspectives can lead to more, and often better solutions.
Scalability: A larger team can handle more work, allowing your business to grow.
How can you hire more people?
Hiring more people sounds simple…
But just like everything else, it requires a strategic approach.
Here's a guide to help you,
(1) Identify Needs:
Figure out which areas of your business need some more manpower.
Is it marketing, customer service, production, or something else?
Figure out your team’s current workload and spot the gaps.
(2) Create a Plan:
You want to set clear goals for the hiring process.
How many people do you need?
And what skills are absolutely non-negotiable?
Then, put together job descriptions that clearly outline the role and responsibilities.
(3) Budget:
Make sure you’ve got the money for some new hires.
Obviously, budget for the more critical roles first.
Who should you hire?
No matter who you hire, it has to correlate back to your marketing team.
Specifically on the creative side of things.
Put simply…
In terms of who you should hire,
For us, I want to hire more creative people because I believe we are a marketing company, and the more marketing brains I have the quicker I can get ideas into the market and scale.
And if you’re in the ecom space
You want to hire as many creative people as possible.
A creative strategist…
A content creator…
A video editor…
A graphic designer…
Etc.
Your business runs off creativity.
And for that reason, you want to continuously hire creative people, because these are the types of people that your business will feed off.
Where’s the best place to find these people?
Finding the right talent is easier when you know where to look.
My go to places to hire is usually:
Twitter
LinkedIn
Upwork
Onlinejobs.ph
In that order. Twitter and LinkedIn are great people the key here is try and POACH cause the reality is if they are unemployed you are either lucky or they just arent the best talent out there.
At some point, you’re gonna reach a point in scale where you’re gonna need some help.
And it’s important you get the right help when you need it.
However, hiring more people is only the first point in growing your business…
Later this week, I’ll be going over the next two points – producing more resources, and maximizing volume and efficiency.
Crush your week, Keep the Moe-mentum rolling!
