🤯 BITCOIN TO $1M IN 90 DAYS

What is the bet?

• March 16th - James Medlock tweeted that he would bet anyone $1M that the US does not enter hyperinflation

• March 17th - Balaji accepts the offer and says that BTC will reach $1M in the next 90 days

Who are these people:

• James Medlock - a pseudonym personality that has been igniting the left-leaning side of Twitter. His messages are centered around: Universal programs, higher taxes, and stronger unions.

• Balaji - an entrepreneur and investor. He was the co-founder of Counsyl, the former Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Coinbase, and a former general partner at the VC firm, Andreessen Horowitz

Why he made this bet: Balaji has outlined his rationale for his bet in a tweet. At the core of it is his distrust in banks. He believes the ~5% interest rate offered by big banks is a trap and having your money in short-term treasuries is the “worst place you can be”.

Why this matters: Balaji isn’t some random Bitcoin maxi, he’s highly educated and has one of the strongest resumes in crypto. He’s not alone in his thinking that the current financial infrastructure is broken, but predicting BTC to $1M in 90 days is as bold as you can get.

Why this matters: LinksDAO had a goal of acquiring a golf course from day 1 of their project. 15 months later, they accomplished that goal. The LinksDAO leaders have stuck to their vision and executed on it. This is a win for an NFT ecosystem filled with rug pulls and empty promises.

Takeaway: When your friends ask you “what’s the deal with NFTs”, LinksDAO is a great way to explain to them why NFTs have value. A LinksDAO NFT has obvious benefits; anyone can understand why someone would want access to those benefits.

🧑🏻‍⚖️ FOMC MEETING

What’s happening: This week (3/22) there is an FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting where the Fed will announce any changes to the fed funds rate.

What to expect: The market is pricing in a 62% chance of a 25bps increase and 38% chance of no increase.

Why it matters: The FOMC only meets 8 times a year so any meeting they have is a big deal. However, given the recent bank failures (SVB, Signature, Silvergate), this meeting is even bigger than normal.

Giancarlo compared the current NFT market to PC games on Steam and found that the entire NFT “player base” wouldn’t even rank in the top 20 games.
