The Guide To Creating Effective Ads

Over the years I’ve managed to create 1000’s of ads.

Not just any ads, ads that grab eyeballs and turn them into dollars.

If you want to learn how to do the same then today is your lucky day.

When I first got into the ecom game in 2017 the most important skillset was media buying now its creative strategy.

The average person sees around 1,200+ ads a day, yes you and I see 1200+ ads a day on our phones

I learned the formula on how to create ads that STAND OUT

Ads that bring in dollars.

The beauty about it is you dont need to make 1200 ads

Make 1 ad that can stand out and it can bring you an infinite amount of customers.

Let’s dive into the framework of how you can do that.

Attention Is Scarce; How Do You Capture It?

The truth is, everyone's scrolling, noboyd’s looking.

Your challenge is not just to create an ad but to design an experience.

To capture a moment out of somebodys day.

Think about it—people have the attention span of a goldfish these days.

So how do you get someone to stop scrolling and click on your ad?

Research & Inspiration

You do your duedillegence.

90% of your work is dependent on how much research you do.

Foreplay is going to be you’re number one tool for this, it’s my one-stop shop to save ads, get inspo and build briefs.

You dont want to look for “cool” high-quality ads

Look for ads that have been active for a long period of time, ads that spark controversy, and initiate customer engagement.

Ask yourself questions like

  • What does this ad structures look like?

  • What hooks are being used?

  • What is the main marketing angle?

  • What problem does this ad solve?

  • Who is this ad targeting?

The clearer you get on the science behind the ad the better your chances get at creating one.

Beyond just looking at other active ads dive deeper, look at:

  • Positive customer reviews → use these as main angle inspiration

  • Competitors negative reviews → Flip these into pain point angles

Action & Traction.

It’s Not Just the T-Shirt, It’s the Fit and Feel

Take True Classic, for example. They're main products are t-shirts

But thats not what they sell.

They’re selling confidence, gifts and lifestyle.

Why? Becasue it's not about the product; it's the solution and the lifestyle that comes with it.

The Strategy

This is where you put hit the nail on the head.

Start by writting down as many video angles you can think of.

Put each angle through the same series of questions I do.

  • Is this hook eye-catching?

  • Does it resonate with the target audience?

  • Is the message crystal clear?

  • What is the feeling Im sparking?

  • Is my target audince clear?

If you answered 'no' to any, refine until it's a 'yes' on all fronts.

Next, craft a script that's so simple, that your 10-year-old cousin would get it.

Best part is you can ask Chatgpt or Tiktok Ai Assistant to do this for you.

Don’t be afraid to test new ideas, outside the box marketing. And most importantly dont try to reinvent the wheel, find whats working, learn it, improve it, and go!

There you have it.

Now it's time to put all these insights to work see you next Sunday!
