โ˜•๏ธ Starbucks drops NFT Loyalty Program

Unless you've been touching some grass, you've heard about Starbucks breaking into NFTs.

But everyone is missing the golden nugget I'll share at the end.

First, 6 Things You Need to Know ๐Ÿ‘‡:

  1. Not an "NFT": Starbucks announced a new Loyalty Program, instead of calling it an NFT collection.

  2. Digital assets: The Odyssey program will allow customers and U.S. employees to earn digital stamps as rewards (NFTs).

  3. Integration: The NFTs can be purchased with a credit card and cryptocurrency, but it all functions on blockchain tech.

  4. Marketplace: A Starbucks Odyssey web app will feature a secondary marketplace to let stamp owners buy and sell.

  5. Goodies: The rewards include access to virtual drinking-mixing classes, exclusive merch, access to private events, or trips to a Starbucks Costa Rican coffee farm.

  6. Network: They chose to do this on Polygon.

Backlash ๐Ÿคฌ: Starbucks received backlash from employees and customers due to the potential environmental impact of crypto and NFT platforms.

Little do they know, ETH is transitioning to PoS, which cuts energy use by more than 99%.

Despite controversy, we keep seeing humongous, ginormous, gargantic whales of corporations diving deeper and deeper into web3.

Starbucks is different though. They're implementing the tech subtly into their systems, which is more thoughtful to onboard people slowly rather than a massive crypto announcement that would confuse the normies.

Starbucks is making NFT onboarding easier.

People don't care about the tech. They care about what they can do with it.

By being able to join the blockchain based loyalty program with a credit card, it becomes so easy even a caveman can do it.

The goal is to have coffee lovers using blockchain without them even realizing it. This is huge for mass adoption.

The irony is that the people complaining about the environment will be the same people cashing out with the NFT rewards.

โšœ๏ธ Golden Nugget: Polygon looks bullish, and here are my reasons.

  • Whales: Successfully onboarded Coca-Cola and Disney.

  • Tech: Transactions are fast and cheap.

  • Adoption: Web2 whales are integrating with Polygon, breaking the ice for other companies to follow

  • Investment: That also means they see significant long-term value in Polygon to build inside their ecosystem.

Don't be surprised if we see more companies integrating with Polygon.

I highly recommend looking into Polygon as a long term investment opportunity. Adoption from Disney, Coke, Starbucks.... I see dollar signs in Polygon's future.

If you don't know where to trade, I suggest FTX.
