Happy Tuesday Moementum Fam!

Recently, between the replies and the DMS I’ve been getting flooded with lately, figured why not turn it into an email.?

From general marketing questions to TikTok Shop and other Ecom related topics, I thought this would be a fun email to write out.

So today we’re spicing things up with a Q&A

Let’s jump right in

Q1: “If you were to start a brand from scratch, what is the main marketing platform you would focus on today?”

My answer to that is TikTok!

Here’s why…

Right now, because of TikTok, we’re seeing a MASSIVE shift in the overall marketing landscape.

Brands are no longer “advertising companies” like they were before…

Instead, what we’re seeing is these “advertising companies” shift into “media companies”.

That’s because, with the TikTok algorithm and the rise of short-form content, it’s so much more effective to grow your brand and gain traction with free impressions and impressive content from day 1 instead of just chad-ramming ads.

You NEVER want to spend money on ads right away because you don’t NEED to nowadays.

You’re much better off producing short-form content and distributing it on TikTok, and other platforms.

Q2: “What is the best place to hire creators?”

There’s a lot of different places you can scout creators, but these places are where I’ve personally found the best talent”

The first place is JoinBrands.

Joinbrands is a platform where you can create “jobs” and have creators apply to make content for your brand.

It’s a solid way to find talent.

The second and final place I would hire from is BrandsMeetCreators.

This is another company that focuses on creating partnerships between creators and brands and is another solid place I would look to hire talent.

Q3: “What is the criteria you use when providing samples to content creators?”

Well, it really depends on a few different things.

What type of content are you trying to push? Do you want to collaborate with big creators or smaller ones?

Is your goal with content to get more sales, or just get more impressions for your brand?

Once you figure that out, you can scope out creators with that criteria in mind, reach out, and send them samples to make content with!

Q4: “How do you go about choosing between TikTok Shop or Amazon?”

TikTok Shop is only doing around $7 Million per day, while Amazon is doing $1 Billion.

Amazon is clearly the much bigger platform…

But with the incentives that TikTok Shop is rolling out, I personally think TikTok Shop is the better pick right now.

TikTok is trying to grow to the size of Shopify and Amazon.

To do that, they’re giving sellers some crazy incentives, like outright paying the difference on discounts and coupons to push volume through their platform.

Not to mention, TikTok’s algorithm is more powerful than any social media algorithm we’ve ever seen, and right now it has a priority toward TikTok Shop videos.

It’s a growing platform, and based on what I’ve seen with the volume brands can push, I would pick TikTok over Amazon because of the lucrative growth potential.

Q5: “What are some of the best categories to start a brand in right now?”

Here’s a screenshot of the best-performing categories right now from Kalodata:

In my opinion, Beauty and Supplements are the best categories to start.

Not only are they top-performing categories with a huge market share…

But you also don’t have to worry about the amount of refunds and chargebacks you would get in a category like tech where you’re selling more complicated products.

Q6: “What are you doing for Black Friday?”

Great question!

The short answer:

I’m making sure everything is pre-planned.

We’re planning our merchandising strategy, the landing pages and the ads that we want to push, and organizing the team and the people responsible for it…

Long answer:
