🤖 Walmart partners with Roblox to launch their first metaverse! An unexpected collaboration. 🤝

Get ready for the rebrand of a lifetime.

Walmart, an absolute mammoth in retail, just announced the launch of two new immersive experiences in the Roblox metaverse called "Walmart Land" and "Walmart's Universe of Play."

If you're unfamiliar, Roblox is not a game.

It's an online platform and storefront where users go to play games made by other developers. With 52M daily active users, the platform hosts millions of 3D games and worlds where people explore and experience the joys of being a kid.

🎧 Walmart's Metaverse Visions:

• 🏝Electric Island: Inspired by the world's greatest music festivals, Electric Island includes an interactive piano walkway, a dance challenge, a Netflix trivia experience featuring Noah Schnapp and a DJ booth where users can learn to mix different beats.

• 👗House of Style: Featuring a virtual dressing room, a strike-a-pose challenge, a big cosmetics obstacle course and a roller-skating rink, House of Style will offer products from af94, UOMA by Sharon C., ITK by Brooklyn & Bailey, Lottie London, Bubble and more.

• ⚡️Electric Fest: Here, users can jump back into Electric Island for 'Electric Fest,' a motion-capture concert celebration featuring performances from famous artists such as Madison Beer, Kane Brown and YUNGBLUD.

😅 Not really Web3 but kind of Web3.

Roblox is not built around NFTs or cryptocurrency. It is referred to as the "proto-metaverse," given the closed ecosystem. It's a precursor to future metaverse worlds that may be compatible.

Walmart CMO William White described Roblox as a "testing ground" for future metaverse moves.

Keyword: FUTURE! 🔮

Walmart also quietly filed trademarks related to the metaverse and cryptocurrency. 👀

🧠 Our thoughts.

Walmart is staying relevant.

By tapping into the youth with pop culture figures like Noah Schnapp from Stranger Things and Madison Beer, they are building a culture and space for younger folks to adopt new tech.

This is a great approach. Just like how wii was made for 12 year olds to play tennis and make wii avatars of the math teacher they hate. Youth are the strongest hope for the web3 to evolve and be adopted. Or else it'll be a bunch of old apes looking back at the good'ol days when BTC was 69k.

We know interactive technology is the future of how people will shop. It takes online shopping to a new level, in a useful way. (Imagine being able to walk through a digital store and see products in 3D when online shopping...game changer.)

You get all the benefits of shopping IRL, without the negatives like people staring at you because you bought 18 tubs of Nutella.

To be honest, I don't play Roblox. So I made my 10-year-old sister hop into Walmart's metaverse to give you guys a review (these are her exact words).

👍 Good things:

• There's a big train that takes you around the whole metaverse, which was cool.

• I loved the house of style because there were fun games like getting a manicure.

• Exploring all the parts of the world and collecting coins was fun.

• Really interactive.

👎 Bad things:

• A little glitchy, like when I try to interact with items.

• Confusing at first because the world is sooooo open.

⚽️ FIFA launches NFT platform on Algorand before World Cup.

FIFA is the world's largest sporting event that draws over 3.572B people. (Yes, with a B.) They are partnering with Algorand to launch an NFT platform and release a collection of soccer-themed digital collectibles.

The FIFA+ collection will include 👇:

• Soccer moments

• Sports illustrations

• Your favourite players

WTF is Algorand? 🤔

Although it could be mistaken for Thor's planet, it's actually a potential sleeping giant of crypto. Alogrand is a proof-of-stake blockchain, but it is not known for its NFT projects.

They've already acquired digital music sharing service Napster and partnered with Limewire, a once peer-to-peer music sharing service.

With an impressive team of developers, speedy transactions, energy efficiency, smart contract capability and exceptional scalability, they can very well be a household name in the near future.

How can we get in on this? 🤝

The collection is set to launch later this month and will roll out when FIFA Qatar 2022.

We're bullish on Alogrand, and the FIFA endorsement is making us salivate.
